The Chelsea City Council on Tuesday is scheduled to vote on whether to reject all the bids the city received for a renovation project at Chelsea City Hall after all bids came in over budget.
The city received five bids for the work from various construction companies, with the base bid ranging from $525,000 to $758,000, and the total bid (with optional add-ons) ranging from $598,000 to $896,000, records show.
The recommendation to the council is to reject all bids, redesign the scope of the renovation project and seek new bids.
The council also on Monday plans to consider whether to close a special bank account that had been set up to handle federal funds from the American Rescue Plan. All of the money Chelsea received from that federal action has been obligated, and purchases have been completed, so there is no longer a need for the account, city officials said in the resolution to be voted on by the council.
The council is scheduled to meet in a work session at 5 p.m., with a 6 p.m. action meeting following at Chelsea City Hall at 11611 Chelsea Road.
