
Election Update
On Aug. 23, Chelsea and Hoover voters will have the chance to elect their 2016-2020 city council members and mayor. 280 Living will provide weekly recaps each week leading up to the election, so you can easily keep up with everything you need to know before you vote.
Here’s Chelsea’s latest:
- The Chelsea Business Alliance hosted a candidate forum for the city council candidates on Aug. 4.
Here’s Hoover’s latest:
- Joel Smith, the executive general manager for the Hendrick Hoover Auto Mall, pulled out of the race for Hoover City Council Place 4, leaving two other candidates to battle for the seat being vacated by Jack Natter.

Other important information:
- Voters must register by Aug. 8 and regular absentee ballots must be applied for by Aug. 18.
- A runoff election, should it be required, will be held Oct. 4. Elected officials will take office Nov. 7.
- Hoover: bluffparkal.org and the Monte D’Oro Neighborhood Association are co-hosting a municipal candidate forum for all mayoral and City Council candidates on Tuesday, Aug. 9, at Shades Crest Baptist Church.
