
Election Update
On Aug. 23, Chelsea and Hoover voters will have the chance to elect their 2016-2020 city council members and mayor. 280 Living will provide weekly recaps each week leading up to the election, so you can easily keep up with everything you need to know before you vote.
Here’s Chelsea’s latest:
- Alison Moore Nichols announced her run for mayor.
- Council member David Ingram is running for reelection.
Here's Hoover's latest:
- Three residents announced their council runs: Sam Swiney is campaigning for Place 2, Mike Shaw for Place 4 and Robin Schultz for Place 7.
General information:
- Official qualifying dates for mayoral and council candidates begin Tuesday, July 5 and last until July 19. The Election Guide in 280 Living's July issue for information on how to qualify as a candidate.
- The Election Guide also contains information on polling places, how to register to vote and what to bring to the polls. Voters must register by Aug. 8 and regular absentee ballots must be applied for by Aug. 18.
