Grandview Medical Center held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Oct. 2.
Grandview Medical Center celebrated is Oct. 10 opening with a ribbon cutting on Friday, Oct. 2.
Several local and state officials joined Grandview leadership at the ribbon cutting, including Birmingham Mayor William Bell, state Lt. Gov. Kay Ivey and Chairman and CEO of Community Health Systems Wayne Smith.
"Birmingham is proud and fortunate today to welcome the Grandview team and this beautiful campus to the 280 corridor of our city," Bell said. "As the city grows and changes, access to quality healthcare will be a critical component of our social and economic success. Grandview is well-positioned here in our highest growth area to contribute to that success."
Grandview CEO Keith Granger discussed the path to opening the new medical center at the ceremony.
"Today represents the culmination of a decade of the hard work and perseverance of many people who were determined to bring high quality, convenient and technologically-advance healthcare to this part of Birmingham," Granger said.
The 372-bed hospital will transfer patients from Trinity Medical Center to Grandview's campus on Saturday, Oct. 10.
