A small segment of Chelsea has lost landline telephone service after an early morning wreck on Thursday, Feb. 25.
The wreck occurred at the intersection of Shelby County 39 and U.S. 280 and damaged an AT&T junction box, according to the Chelsea Fire & Rescue Department. Businesses and residences along U.S. 280 from Shelby County 39 to Old U.S. 280 and from Shelby County 39 at Shelby County 337 to U.S. 280 did not have telephone service as of 1:30 p.m.
Chelsea Fire & Rescue reports 911 services have been affected by the damage. If an emergency occurs and the landline is out, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office said residents should use cell phones to call 911 and state their address.
AT&T said it expects to resume service in four to six days.
