The Office of the Secretary of State is hosting mobile ID locations around the state in order to provide registered voters with a valid form of identification. In 2014, Alabama becomes one of 34 states to require presentation of a photo ID before voting. The photo IDs are provided free of charge, and anyone without a form of identification is eligible.
To get a free Alabama photo ID card, a voter must show a photo or non-photo identity document with their full legal name and date of birth, documentation showing their date of birth, documentation showing they are a registered voter and documentation showing their name and address.
For more information about who is eligible for a free photo ID and what qualifies as valid identification, visit alabamavoterid.com.
Voters who cannot make it to Chelsea City Hall can also obtain an ID at the Shelby County Board of Registrars Office.
