The Shelby County Drug Enforcement Task Force is hosting a Facebook live town hall event on Tuesday, June 27. The event is in partnership with Alabaster Police Department, Pelham Police Department, Shelby County Sheriff's Office and Compact 2020 and intended to help answer parent questions, according to a press release from Lt. Clay Hammac, task force commander.
The event will address questions regarding drug trends, how to recognize if your teenager might be facing peer pressure to experiment with drugs and what to keep an eye out for in regard to drug paraphernalia.
Hammac and Compact 2020 director Alan Miller will answer questions during the event, according to the release.
"This is an opportunity for us to reach out to our community by a means other than our traditional parent summits," Hammac said in the release. "Our goal is to equip parents with the knowledge and resources to proactively engage in their teenagers' lives and allow us to partner with them to educate our community about drug addiction and abuse."
The Facebook live town hall will be hosted in the SCDETF Facebook page June 27 at 11 a.m., and questions can be submitted before or during the event by emailing dtf@shelbyso.com or sending a Facebook message on the SCDETF Facebook page.
