The Point at Oak Mountain Apartments are off U.S. 280 across from the Village at Lee Branch shopping center.
Renters of three apartments were displaced by a fire at The Point at Oak Mountain apartment complex off U.S. 280 this morning, a Cahaba Valley Fire and Emergency Medical Rescue District official said.
The fire occurred in a bedroom of a second-floor apartment in the 600 building on Stonecrest Drive and was reported at 8:37 a.m., Cahaba Valley Battalion Chief John Yancey said.
Firefighters from the Cahaba Valley and Hoover departments made it to the scene quickly, evacuated the entire building and had the fire under control within 30 minutes, Yancey said. No one apparently was in the apartment where the fire occurred when it started, he said.
The fire stayed confined to the one bedroom, but a second apartment received smoke damage and a third one had water damage, Yancey said.
One person was treated for smoke inhalation on the scene but declined further treatment, he said.
The Shelby County Emergency Management Agency, American Red Cross and apartment managers are working with tenants of the three apartments to find temporary accommodations, Yancey said.
The Point at Oak Mountain apartment complex is off U.S. 280 across from the Village at Lee Branch.
