Despite the rainy weather on the morning of Saturday, Jan. 27, plenty of cross-country runners, Birmingham athletes and Young Life supporters came out for the Frostbite 5K at Veterans Park.
The 5k kicked off at 9 a.m., with a light rain coming down, followed by the fun run at 9:45 a.m. Friends and families gathered around the finish line to cheer on their fellow athletes at the fifth annual Frostbite 5K.
The event raised money for Young Life Birmingham, which is a local chapter of the national youth group-based ministry that has five clubs in the U.S. 280 area. They include Young Life at Spain Park, Briarwood and Oak Mountain high schools; WyldLife at Oak Mountain Middle School; and Young Life Capernaum, a ministry for kids with special needs.
