Hyatt Place Birmingham Inverness will show off its latest renovations as part of a combined grand reopening and Taste of 280 celebration.
The invitation-only event will be held Tuesday, May 24, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Director of Sales Annette Scarborough said several area restaurants will showcase an assortment of their top menu items, as they have in years past. This will be the sixth Taste of 280 event held at the hotel, she said.
“It’s our way of saying thank you to our clientele,” said Scarborough.
This year’s Taste of 280 will also serve as an opportunity for invited guests to see the guest room and event space renovations. Though renovations were complete in November 2015, this will be the first time many of the event’s guests will see the completed work.
The renovations began in August, said General Manager Delphine Gaines, and included updates to each of the hotel’s 126 guest rooms. There was no major structural work done, she said, but each room did receive reupholstered furniture, new bedding, updated color palettes and completely renovated bathroom. The hotel’s carpets and wallpaper were also changed.

Guest rooms feature the hotel’s signature Hyatt Grand Bed as well as a 42-inch LG flat-screen TV.
Both the Hoover and Shelby County Chambers of Commerce will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony to commemorate the event, said Scarborough.
In 2014, Lone Star Funds bought the hotel as part of a $590 million deal. Lone Star acquired 38 hotels from Hyatt Hotels Corp. as part of the Hyatt Portfolio. According to a Hyatt news release at the time, the new owners also pledged to invest some additional $50 million in capital expenditures across the 38 hotels over the course of two years.
Hyatt Birmingham Inverness is located at 4686 Highway 280 East. The hotel includes 24/7 eat and drink offerings, an outdoor pool and a 24-hour fitness facility. The hotel has been known as Hyatt Place since 2007 and is managed by Aimbridge Hospitality.
