Oak Mountain High School sophomore Kelly Baurassa will attend a leadership camp this January, free of cost.
Baurassa was selected by the Rotary Club of North Shelby-Inverness for a scholarship to the 2016 Camp RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award). The camp will be at the Huntsville Space Center at the end of January.
The purpose of the camp is to identify local youth leadership and build those students’ leadership abilities through a week of leadership training. The week includes teambuilding, motivational speakers and communication exercises.
“The most important aspect we were looking for when making our selection for the RYLA scholarship was for the candidate to have a desire to grow personally and to take the initiative,” said Michelle Boykins, President of the North Shelby-Inverness Rotary.
