The inaugural Brenda Ladun Decade Dash to Conquer Cancer saw neon, sequins, tie dye and more as runners got retro to raise money for a cure for cancer.
The Decade Dash was held at St. Vincent's One Nineteen on June 23 and included a one-mile color run, a 5K and a block party with music, local vendors, food, kids' activities and more.
The event is the brainchild of ABC 33/40 news anchor Brenda Ladun, a two-time cancer survivor. Ladun had previously held the Conquer Cancer Run for 13 years to fundraise for the American Cancer Society, but she decided to change things up this year with a new twist.
Runners crossed the St. Vincent's and Somerby assisted living campuses as part of the day's events, with volunteers tossing colorful powders in the air as part of the one-mile color run. After both runs, families got to enjoy the block party together.
