Mt Laurel Elementary celebrated Valentine's Day with a service project to "share the love" with others.
Teachers and students decided that they wanted to show appreciation to their "Hometown Heroes." From that idea, the student council students began to organize a snack drive, creating posters, flyers and daily announcements to encouraging students to bring in snacks.
The week of Valentine’s Day, the student council organized baskets of snacks to deliver to several locations around the area. On Feb. 13, students delivered the baskets to the Mt Laurel Fire Department, the Cahaba Valley Fire Department (in the Narrows), the Greystone Shelby County substation, the Chelsea City Hall substation, and the Shelby County Sheriff's Office.
