Mt Laurel Elementary students with a BodyTrekexhibit.
From Feb. 11 to Feb. 21, Mt Laurel Elementary had a visit from BodyTrek. Over an eight day period, students were able to enjoy hands-on learning by spending time in the mobile, free-standing unit.
Through interactive exhibits designed for kindergarten through fifth grade, the students learned about health and safety, and also how to make positive health choices both now and in the future.
BodyTrek provides a learning experience for children using a series of interactive exhibits and workbooks that make learning about good health and making healthy choices interesting and fun.
Some of the focus areas included the heart, lung, skin, nutrition, senses, brain, hygiene and injury prevention. The BodyTrek learning experience also included healthy food choices, child passenger safety, fire safety, the five senses and germs.
Students were able to experience an exciting journey through the human mind, body and senses that can provide information they can use for the rest of their lives.
BodyTrek is provided by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama and Children’s of Alabama and travels to schools within a 55-mile radius of downtown Birmingham to provide an interactive education program experience.
If your school is interested in a visit from BodyTrek, email marilyn.prier@childrensal.org or call 205-638-6028 for more information.
