Oak Mountain Lacrosse
The 2016 Oak Mountain girls lacrosse team.
The 2016 Oak Mountain High School girls varsity lacrosse team finished the season by winning the Greater Birmingham Youth Lacrosse Association Alabama State Championship on May 7, 2016, beating the Mountain Brook High School Spartans 15-7. This was Oak Mountain's third straight state championship. The Eagles averaged almost 20 goals per game on offense while giving up only slightly more than two goals per game, outscoring Alabama opponents by a total of 267 goals (for) to 34 goals (against). The team finished first among 12 teams in Alabama.
Oak Mountain finished the in-state Alabama season with a record of 14-0 and an overall record of 16-4, playing some very good competition from Georgia, Tennessee and Kentucky as part of their non-conference schedule. The Eagles will graduate 12 players from this year's roster, including Madie Everhardt, who will be playing at the next level for Division II Young Harris College. Many of the girls will continue playing this summer with a travel team called "HotBama" which plays in several out-of-state tournaments throughout the summer.
