With their respective areas decided, Oak Mountain prevailed over Spain Park, 67-58, on Tuesday night in an out-of-area contest.
The Eagles (18-7), coming off an overtime win over Hoover to clinch Class 7A, Area 5, led the Area 6 champion Jaguars by a 32-31 score at the half. Oak Mountain held onto that one-point lead and never allowed Spain Park to retake the lead the rest of the game.
Oak Mountain sank 12-of-13 free throws in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.
Will Stephenson led the Eagles with 21 points, five assists, and knocked down all eight of his shots from the charity stripe in the final period. Wyatt Armstrong was strong as well, scoring 12 and grabbing six rebounds. Gabe Haynes was in double digits with 11 points and four assists.
Austin Wiley led Spain Park with 28 points.
In the girls game, Spain Park defeated Oak Mountain, 46-25.
