Oak Mountain Basketball
Oak Mountain after winning the Jemison Christmas Tournament in December 2015.
Oak Mountain basketball is on fire.
Its latest conquest this season was the Jemison Christmas Tournament, which the Eagles won by winning three games in three days Monday through Wednesday. By winning the tournament, Oak Mountain set a program record by winning three regular season tournaments.
The championship game of the tournament did not lack drama, as the Eagles went toe-to-toe with Oxford in a low-scoring contest.
Oxford scored just two points in the fourth quarter, allowing Oak Mountain to rally and win, 39-38, on a Payton Youngblood basket with five seconds remaining.
Yeadon Patrick scored 12 and grabbed six rebounds in the game to lead the Eagles.
The Eagles knocked Thomasville from the ranks of the unbeaten with a 54-42 win in the semifinals. Wyatt Armstrong was hot from the outside, draining four three-pointers and scoring 16 points while adding six rebounds. Will Stephenson scored and distributed the ball well, as he finished with 14 points and six assists.
In the first game of the tournament, Oak Mountain beat Friendship Christian (TN) 54-24. Patrick recorded 11 points and seven rebounds. Gabe Haynes added ten points and four assists.
Patrick, Stephenson, and Armstrong were named to the all-tournament team. The Eagles are now 12-5 on the season.
Oak Mountain also won the Bryant Bank Classic and Shelby County Tournament earlier this season.
