Oak Mountain Basketball
Oak Mountain's Ryan Hollingsworth (12) is shown in a 2016 game.
Yeadon Patrick snuck away from the defense and Wyatt Armstrong found him all alone under the basket for a buzzer-beating, game-winning layup in overtime, as Class 7A No. 5 Oak Mountain defeated Class 5A No. 7 Helena, 44-42, on Friday night.
With the game tied, Helena's defense gambled and tried to steal a few passes, allowing Patrick to slip free and convert the easy look.
In a defensive struggle, the game was tied at 35 at the conclusion of regulation.
Armstrong led the Eagles with 18 points, 12 of them coming on four three-point conversions in the second half. Patrick added 15 points.
Paul Brown led Helena with ten points.
Oak Mountain improves to 19-7 with the win, and concludes a solid week that already included a win over Spain Park.
