Julia Pack scored 18 goals and 17 assists in 2016, leading Oak Mountain to the second round of the playoffs.
A number of local high school players were named to the 2016 All-State soccer team, as voted on by the high school coaches. In boys soccer Josh Brower from Briarwood Christian, Kennedy Davis, Ryan Dearman, Hunter Holstad and Christian Thomason from Oak Mountain and Parker Sturm from Spain Park were named to the first team. Chandler Thomason from Oak Mountain was named to the second team.
On the girls side, Chelsea’s Sophie Wilson was named the Class 6A Player of the Year. Her teammates Maddison Martin, Haley Greene and Lexie Duca also made the first team, with Madeline Guillen on the second team.
For 7A, Oak Mountain’s Nealy Martin, who was named 7A player of the year, Hailey Whitaker and Julia Pack were named first-teamers. Lucy Thrasher made the second team and Alyssa Vess was honorable mention.
