FOOTBALL
The Briarwood football team suffered its first region loss of the season last Thursday, as the Lions fell to Mountain Brook 17-7. Click here for a recap of the game.

Oak Mountain continued to flex its muscle in a 42-21 win over Tuscaloosa County last Thursday. Click here for a synopsis of the game.
This week, Briarwood takes an open date, while Chelsea heads to Shades Valley and Oak Mountain hosts Thompson on Friday.
VOLLEYBALL
The Briarwood volleyball team wrapped up the regular season last week, posting a 4-3 record to end the regular season with a 17-16 mark. Last week, the Lions beat Helena, West Limestone, Elkmont and Hatton, while suffering losses to Mountain Brook, Athens and East Limestone.
Chelsea had a busy week last week to finish up the regular season with a 33-11 record. The Hornets defeated Pell City, Montevallo and Sylacauga in regular season action, while losing an area match to Mountain Brook. In the Athens Tournament over the weekend, the Hornets beat East Limestone, James Clemens, Lauderdale County, Central-Florence and Rogers before losing in the semifinals to Cullman. Here are some stats:
- Madison Moore: 131 assists.
- Morgan Martin: 111 assists.
- Emma Pohlmann: 80 kills, 60 digs.
- Hope Wright: 72 kills, 67 digs.
This Tuesday, Briarwood and Chelsea will head to Mountain Brook for the Class 6A, Area 9 tournament. Briarwood faces Mountain Brook and Chelsea faces Homewood in the opening round.
Oak Mountain finished up the regular season with a 17-13 record. During the week, Oak Mountain knocked off James Clemens and fell to Hoover and Gardendale. In the Margaret Blalock Tournament, the Eagles beat Daphne and Auburn but lost to Bayside Academy, Homewood and McGill-Toolen. Here are some stats from the week:
- Landry Frisch: seven aces, 52 kills, three blocks, two assists, 40 digs.
- Sydney Jaffe: eight aces, 12 assists, 86 digs.
- Avery Fletcher: six aces, one block, 88 assists, 28 digs.
This Wednesday, Oak Mountain heads to Hoover for the Class 7A, Area 5 tournament and takes on Thompson in the opening round.
CROSS-COUNTRY
The Oak Mountain cross-country team competed in the Helena Invitational on Saturday. The girls finished fourth in the event while the boys placed seventh. Lauren Cole (13th) was the top Eagles girl, with Emma Grace Phillips (21st), Lexi Ray (22nd), Katie Wright (33rd) and Avery Welch (44th) following.
For the boys, Noah Arrington (31st), Reese Bell (32nd), Bryce Caton (36th), Ryan Cox (51st) and Matthew Womack (53rd) were the top performers.
