A popular fast food restaurant is set to open in the new Dixie Fish Co. location.
Whataburger, a Texas-based burger chain, will open at 111 Resource Parkway this February. This will be Whataburger's 13th Alabama location and the first in the city of Birmingham. There are also locations in Chelsea, Pelham, Trussville and eight other cities around the state.
During its grand opening on Feb. 20, the first drive-thru and first counter customers will receive free Whataburger for a year.
Dixie Fish Co. closed down in November 2015, and the building has remained vacant since. The old building was demolished in late October and early November.
