As one of Alabama’s fastest growing counties, Shelby County is a brilliant patchwork of history, culture, business, attractions, arts, and community - making it one of the nation’s most dynamic counties.
With its temperate climate and dramatic landscape Shelby County is also one of the best recreational sites in Alabama. Visitors, tourists and residents alike enjoy unique attractions such as Oak Mountain State Park, Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum, the American Village Civic Education Center, the Cahaba River and much, much more.
Combined with a wide variety of excellent lodging and accommodation options – as well as some of the best places to eat anywhere -- Shelby County has become a favorite destination in our state and the Southeast Region. Visitors and tourists have discovered what Shelby County residents have always known: Shelby County, with its’ vibrant city life and flair for hometown hospitality, offers so much to do and discover every day.
On July 27, the Chamber’s Tourism & Recreation Work Group will be hosting our “Community Luncheon” featuring an update from Kendall Williams, Shelby County’s Manager of Tourism & Events. During her presentation, Ms. Williams will share an update on tourism throughout our County – and the positive impact it has on our communities.
Then in early October, we’ll celebrate that positive impact the tourism & recreation industry has on our County with our 3rd Annual Shelby County Tourism & Recreation All Star Awards. During that event we’ll celebrate Shelby County’s attractions, eateries and lodging facilities that help keep visitors and tourists wanting to come back again and again.
This annual program with our public education partners is another way to engage conversation and to better align education and employer needs.
If you’d like to join us for either one of these programs, or find out more about our Tourism & Recreation programming at The Shelby County Chamber, please feel free to give us a call at 205-663-4542 or visit our website: shelbychamber.org.
