Seminar for Adults Beginning College
Jefferson State Community College 4600 Valleydale Road, Birmingham, Alabama 35242
Jefferson State's New Options Program will offer a free seminar for adults who are thinking about beginning college for the first time or returning to school after an extended period of time. The seminar will be offered on Febrary 21 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the Health Sciences Building at Jefferson State's Shelby Campus on Valleydale Road.
Adults who have never been to college or who have been out of school a long time often have different questions and concerns than traditional students who begin college right after high school. New Options is a program that began more than 30 years ago. Its purpose is to give educational support to adults at least 25 years old; single parents; and GED recipeints.
The seminar will provide information about admissions, financial aid, choosing classes, and study skills. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with adults who are now successful students while balancing family and work responsibilities.
