When Sara Beth Gilbert moved to the Chelsea area in 2017, she noticed a gap in the community’s options for both children and adults who wanted to stay active. To fill that need, she opened Sara Beth’s Gymnasts just a few months later.
“I had been in gymnastics for 20 years,” Sara Beth said. “Our twins had just turned 4, and I knew I wanted them to experience the benefits of gymnastics. That led me to wanting that for our community, too. ”
Gymnastics is a way to get active, have fun and improve your overall health in just 30-50 minutes of learning.
The sport helps participants gain strength, flexibility, confidence and self-discipline. For children, it’s especially helpful in the development of fine motor skills and can be a great way to combat childhood obesity.
The benefits go beyond physical fitness.
“Children benefit from vestibular development, learning to take turns, and how to celebrate each other’s achievements, which is one of my favorites,” Sara Beth said.
The most popular age group for students at Sara Beth’s Gymnasts is beginners ages 4-7, but Sara Beth and her team offer classes to individuals at all ages and levels, from walking children to adults.
“At this time, we have around 100 children in the 4-7 age range, from preschool gymnastics to competitive team gymnastics.”
Registration for classes is always open, and new students can save on enrollment when you refer a friend and both get $10 off.
