Chelsea Middle School was temporarily placed on lockdown this morning, according to a release from the Shelby County Sheriff's Department. The school has now returned to normal operations.
Deputies responded to investigate a verbal threat made by a student that was directed at another student yesterday after the students left the campus. The school was in lockdown while deputies searched the school and talked to the two students involved. No weapons were discovered, and the lockdown has been released.
A deputy will remain at the school to further the investigation of the previous threat and ensure there are no further incidents.
