Chelsea City Fire and Rescue firehouse dog Hero was "arrested" and put in jail for charity on Saturday. Members of the community were encouraged to donate money for Hero's bail, and all proceeds went to Children's of Alabama. A total of $558 was raised at the event.
Hero didn't like to stay in his cell, Lt. Don Williamson said, because he wanted to get out and greet all of his visitors.
Visitors got the chance to take photos with Hero, and members of Chelsea City Fire and Rescue gave tours of the fire truck and answered questions.
