As part of Pi Day, celebrated worldwide on March 14, Liberty Park Middle School students in Brett Richards' sixth grade math class participated in several activities.
Richards read aloud the book Sir Cumference and the Dragon of Pi by Wayne Geehan. Students also discovered pi by measuring circular objects in the class and had a competition to see who could memorize the most digits of pi. At the end of the competition, first place winners in each class got to throw pie at Richards.
First place winners were: Eden Roberson - 81 digits; Riley McIntrye - 66 digits; Yuheon Lee - 59 digits; and Kendall Tucker - 54 digits.
