While children are enjoying the first weeks of summer vacation, the human resources department is experiencing its busiest time of the year. Summer, especially the month of June, is the time when school faculty and staff are hired, fired or moved between jobs in the school system.
Assistant Superintendent Jim Miller said staff lists will be “very fluid” for several weeks as new employees are interviewed and others hand in their resignation or retirement notices. He expects to have the final employment decisions made by August. Shelby County students will return to school on August 12.
