The Greater Shelby County Chamber exceeded its $1.7 million ShelbyOne Campaign goal by raising $1,913,600. 2013 Chamber Chair David Nolen of M&F Bank and ShelbyOne Campaign Chair Paul Rogers of Aliant Bank shared the news to a group of investors at a celebration event Feb. 26.
ShelbyOne, the Chamber’s five-year Strategic Plan, was initially developed by business and community leaders from throughout the County. The five-year plan encourages collaborative partnerships with public and private sector leaders working together to provide excellence in education, offer quality employment, retain existing businesses, attract new business and development, and enhance the quality of life for all citizens of Shelby County.
The Chamber’s expanded program of work will include: business development and support, community and workforce development, governmental relations, and marketing of the county and the organization.
“There are a lot of people to thank as we celebrate this achievement this evening”, Rogers said. “But we know this is just the first step. As a member of the Chamber’s Board of Directors, I can assure you that we understand that we must deliver tangible, measurable results in each of these four areas for our efforts to be considered a success.”
The Chamber has also formed several new work groups in these four areas that will be working towards meeting the goals of the 2013 Business Plan, which is directly related to the five-year Strategic Plan of ShelbyOne. Volunteers from Chamber member firms and Chamber staff will work together to achieve the goals and objectives of the 2013 Plan.
