Sept. 19: National Medicare Education Week at the North Shelby Library

The North Shelby Library will celebrate National Medicare Education Week, spanning from Sept. 16-22 on Sept. 19 at 9:30 a.m.

Those in attendance should increase their comprehension of Medicare. According to the Medicare Made Clear Index, a new survey conducted by UnitedHealthcare, many older adults struggle to understand Medicare. With the recent changes in healthcare, this confusion has increased.

With the Affordable Care Act coming in 2014 and with approximately 120,000 baby boomers and senior citizens in Birmingham, people eligible for Medicare will need to understand how their health plans and healthcare coverage might be affected by.
