Hannah Home rendering
Hannah Home in Shelby County provides a safe, loving environment for homeless and abused women.
Hannah Home of Shelby County is hosting a Christmas Coffee this month to enlighten members of the community about its mission and broadcast the many benefits of volunteering with the organization.
The event is scheduled for Dec. 12 from 10 a.m.-noon at the home of Janie Dollar, 5088 Greystone Way.
According to its website, Hannah Home is a transitional facility that has provided more than 450 abused and homeless women and their children a safe and loving environment in which to live. Dollar said the organization is looking for volunteers willing to form supportive connections with women staying at the Home.
We have an Encouragers Program that provides women from the community the opportunity to adopt and mentor women at the Home,” Dollar said. “Volunteers spend at least one hour per week with these women, and most of that time is spent praying, listening and supporting as they are going through these struggles.”
Dollar said the event would feature testimonials from employees and current volunteers with the Hannah Home Auxiliary and King’s Home, as well as a presentation about the origins of the organization.
