Only one option remains for those seeking to block Trinity Medical Center from relocating to U.S. 280 – the Alabama Supreme Court.
On Jan. 11, the Alabama Court of Civil Appeals denied requests to rehear arguments by Brookwood Medical Center and St. Vincent’s Hospital against Trinity’s relocation to the former HealthSouth building. In November, the same court ruled 5-0 in Trinity’s favor and reinstated a Certificate of Need that Trinity was awarded in 2010.
Brookwood and St. Vincent’s have 8 days remaining to file an appeal to the Supreme Court.
“We appreciate the Court’s decision today and we are delighted to take another important step forward in our relocation,” said Trinity Medical Center CEO Keith Granger in a statement. “We are hopeful this will mark the end of the legal wrangling and the beginning of improved access to healthcare and the creation of thousands of new jobs.”
According to a release, the lights on the hospital on Highway 280 will remain green.
