The Chamber of Commerce Association of Alabama (Alabama Chambers) recently announced that The Shelby County Chamber has earned the Alabama Accredited Chamber of Commerce designation (AACC).
The announcement was made during the Alabama Chambers Night of Champions presented by AMEA that was recently held in Florence. The Alabama Accredited Chamber Commerce program (AACC) was established in 2016 as one of the most prestigious programs of the Chamber of Commerce Association of Alabama.
The AACC program sets standards of excellence for chambers in the State of Alabama. Additionally, the program promotes public awareness of the chamber of commerce brand as a community development, business membership organization. The peer review process benchmarks chambers in six areas: Organization, Mission Focus, Professional Administration, Financial Management, Communications, and Advocacy.
There are currently 29 chambers that hold the AACC designation. This year, 12 chambers earned their designation including: Athens-Limestone County Chamber of Commerce, Calhoun County Chamber & Visitors Center, Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama, Coastal Alabama Business Chamber, Demopolis Area Chamber of Commerce, Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce,Madison Chamber of Commerce Millbrook Area Chamber of Commerce Mobile Chamber, Opelika Chamber, Southwest Mobile County Chamber of Commerce and The Shelby County Chamber.
“The accreditation process is very rigorous and highlights that each chamber is truly the ‘best of the best’ across our state,” stated Meredith Drennen, chairwoman, Alabama Chambers. “Achieving the AACC designation shows a chamber’s community and members that the organization is upholding the highest professional standards and their investment into the organization is well deserved.”
“As one of the original seven chambers to achieve this designation back in 2016 –when the accreditation process was first established – it’s even more gratifying to be one of only six chamber organizations that have achieved this designation each time the process has been available to apply.” Kirk Mancer, President & CEO with The Shelby County Chamber shared. “This is a true testament to the hundreds of volunteers whom work closely with our chamber staff to carry out our expanded program of work designed to make Shelby County, and our communities even better places to live and do business each and every day.”
