In an epic, overtime thriller, Oak Mountain came up short in a heartbreaking loss to Pelham, 42-41.
At the end of four exciting quarters, the game was tied at 35. Oak Mountain continued its offensive show with a touchdown in overtime, only to suffer a failed conversion attempt. Pelham replied with its own touchdown, followed by the game winning extra point to seal the victory.
Oak Mountain’s running game was nothing short of dominant, with an impressive 378 rushing on just 60 carries. Warren Shader led the way with three touchdowns and 152 yards rushing. Harold Shader totaled 127 yards on just 14 runs, and Gaylon Lloyd added two touchdowns and 76 yards on 12 carries.
Fans were entertained from the opening kickoff, which was returned by Pelham for a 96-yard touchdown.
Next week, Oak Mountain looks to recover from the disappointing loss when it hosts Pell City.
